The high-voltage section of the microwave is the one area most technicians are reluctant to test. However, with the invention and development of the Magnameter, the first true microwave oven tester, this job can now be done safely, easily and efficiently.

Invented in 1982, and redesigned in the '90s, the Magnameter will read voltages up to 10KV DC (7.5KV AC). It will also measure the AC secondary voltage of the high-voltage transformer, and the AC filament voltage needed for electron emission in the magnetron.

More details about MagnameterThe Maganameter incorporates three significant safety features. First, a flashing red neon light indicates the presence of high voltage. Second, a special high-voltage discharge circuit bleeds off the high-voltage charge on the high-voltage capacitor. It can discharge the capacitor within approximately ten seconds (depending on the amount of charge in the capacitor). This eliminates the shock hazards that are associated with shorting the capacitor with a screwdriver. Shorting the capacitor this way can also damage the capacitor.

Also, Magnameter is insulated against shock from high voltage. Magnameter is hand-assembled in the USA, and each unit is individually calibrated for accuracy before leaving the factory.

Magnameter is portable, fits inside a toolbox, needs no batteries, and is supplied with complete hook-up and troubleshooting instructions.
